The National Institute on Aging of the National Institutes of Health has awarded an STTR Phase II Grant for the proposed project Mitigating Injurious Falls in Older Adults Through Non-Injurious Fall and Gait Analysis From Floor Vibrations. ASSET, in partnership with the University of South Carolina, will continue to develop the Phase I technology utilizing of floor vibrations to detect human falls and measure gait speed towards predicting oncoming, injurious falls among older adults. We are excited to partner with USC to continue the innovation journey towards mitigating the number one cause of injury-related deaths among those age 65+.

Only 14.8% of applicants were awarded a NIH STTR/SBIR Grant in 2021, with only three Phase II awards made in South Carolina. Our team is honored to have been chosen from among the 7616 applicants.
