NIH STTR Phase I Awarded

The National Institute on Aging of the National Institutes of Health has awarded an STTR Phase I Grant for the proposed project Mitigating Injurious Falls in Older Adults Through Non-Injurious Fall and Gait Analysis From Floor Vibrations. ASSET, in partnership with the University of South Carolina, will explore the use of floor vibrations to detect human falls and measure gait speed towards predicting oncoming, injurious falls among older adults. We are excited to partner with USC to innovate towards mitigating the number one cause of injury-related deaths among those age 65+.

Only 20.9% of applicants were awarded a NIH STTR Phase I Grant in 2018, with only six awards made in South Carolina. Our team is honored to have been chosen from among the 1011 applicants.
